Lockon is a direct descendant of Flanker2... and to a lesser
extent Flanker1.5, and none of these sims have been famous for
their instant accessibility... though attempts have been made
to at least make it more survivable with the invulnerability
option & missile effectiveness slider.

Graphically Lomac is simply stunning if you have top end
hardware. Gameplay is challenging though, and it might help to
approach each mission as a tactical puzzle to be explored
repeatedly rather than a simple "go here, destroy this, fly
back" mission. Or maybe I'm just rubbish :-)

For me this line of sims has always fascinated and frustrated
in equal measure. A lot of talent and hard work has gone into
getting the product to this state of maturity... but somehow
the better it gets, the more frustrating the weaknesses can
be. Still, that's flight sims for you!

I must admit that Lockon, for me, tends to get used in the
same way as I use MS Flight Sim... lots of wandering around
enjoying the flying and scenery rather than doing anything
practical. I also spend far too much time putting together
movies to try to explain my fascination with Eagle Dynamics'
work. You may or may not find similar inspiration at...

Heh, given that seem to be spending much of my night off
reading and posting to newsgroups, don't hold your breath ;-)
